LYTC - Louisville Youth Training Center

LYTC is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving the youth of our community through intelligent fitness and nutrition programming!

The LYTC serves all school aged children in and around Louisville – regardless of their socio-economic status. We value the power of healthy living and the importance of providing a supportive and nurturing environment for the children of our community. We believe that our children’s health is their most important investment and that all children deserve the right to be healthy and should have access to the tools necessary to achieve their wellness potential.

LYTC offers general fitness and advanced sport training classes at our new indoor fieldhouse several times per week. These classes are led by a degreed exercise physiologist and cover the 5 components of fitness in efficient, effective one hour blocks. Children pay based on need.

LYTC also serves children through nutritional counseling, diagnostic exams, sports physicals and many other services at the facility.

In 2011, LYTC created a new program -“LYTC on the Go”. This program is meant to replace “Tap into Fitness” and is offered at all community schools (not just JCPS) through self-referral. LYTC on the Go is a comprehensive nutrition and exercise program that is blended into core curriculum at these schools. It is designed to fill a gap in Elementary and Middle School health education by encouraging and educating children, families, faculty and staff to adopt healthier lifestyles through hands-on preparation of healthy foods complimented by nutrition science lessons, and daily physical activity. LYTC staff members spend 6 weeks teaching volunteers at each school to deliver the program. This “train the trainer” approach makes the LYTC on the Go program very sustainable and ensures that school volunteers embrace the program as their own. The cost for each program is $5,300 per school (food, seminars, staff, supplies, travel and trainers).
